QR Codes
Generate dynamic, trackable QR codes that drive users to your app with Codelloy.
What are Dynamic QR Codes?
Dynamic QR codes are scannable images that can be updated after creation. Unlike static QR codes, Codelloy QR codes:
- Can be edited without reprinting
- Include analytics tracking
- Support platform-specific routing
- Offer customization options
Creating a QR Code
Every short link comes with a QR code, so you open it from the link itself rather than from a separate page:
- Click the QR icon on the link’s row in the Overview table (its tooltip reads Modify QR Code). Right after you create or edit a link, the success screen shows the same QR icon.
- Customize the design: the Design tab sets the size and an optional center image, and the Advanced tab sets colors, dot and corner styles, and error correction. The Live Preview updates as you go.
- Click Save to keep the design for that link.
- Choose a file format and click Download.
Customization Options
Colors and styles
On the Advanced tab, set the dots, background, and corner colors, the dot and corner styles, and the error correction level.
Center image
On the Design tab, add your brand logo to the center of the code and set its size and margin.
Formats
Download in any of these formats:
- PNG
- JPG
- SVG (the default selection; best for scaling and print)
- WEBP
Scan Tracking & Analytics
Every QR code created through Codelloy automatically tracks scans with no additional setup:
- Separate tracking: QR scans are recorded with
clickSource=QR_CODE, distinct from direct link clicks - Full analytics: each scan captures referrer, device, browser, OS, and geographic data
- Dashboard view: view QR scan counts alongside click metrics in the analytics dashboard
- API access: export QR scan events via the Analytics API and filter by
clickSource=QR_CODE - Compare channels: see how QR adoption compares to direct link sharing
Best Practices
- Test before printing: Always scan your QR code before mass production
- Use high contrast: Ensure good readability
- Maintain quiet zone: Leave white space around the QR code
- Consider size: Minimum 2cm x 2cm for reliable scanning
- Track performance: Monitor scan rates and conversions
Use Cases
- Print advertising: Magazine ads, flyers, billboards
- Product packaging: Direct customers to product info or reviews
- Event marketing: Registration, information booths
- Restaurant menus: Digital menus, ordering systems
- Retail: In-store promotions, loyalty programs
